Wow, trying to define art is difficult. I believe it truly is in the eye of the beholder. I guess the thing I'd say I hate about it is the pretension some artists have. What I love is that it gives me an outlet for the large emotions I have. It's truly therapeutic to me. And the possibilities seem endless with art.

I dont think anyone has a total answer to art, as eveyones opinions and likes are different, I'm just pleased that I get comments occasionally, good or bad,
It shows that at least your getting noticed.

Gosh, I don't know, Mike. Art work that I've seen has generally been in art galleries although I've been receiving an art education with a few of my online friends who use their art as a form of therapy. It's been a nice means of getting to know the artists as individuals instead of simply reading about them through pamphlets and such.

I'm still kinda new with art. I studied music history instead of art history. Thanks for asking.

I think art is an expression. No one can truly be an art critique. To critique someone's work is to bend them to your opinions of how you think they should create, how they should create to please them or a wider audience. Art for me is total self expression created or imitated. Art is selfish, when the artist touches the canvas, clicks the camera, digs into the clay, or whatever expression, it's working from a mood, a thought, an idea..it's the subconscious thought, the conscious mind, the vision...although some art forms may require training (performance art, actors). I can't speak for the performance artist or actor...Art should not be critiqued to be good, bad, or not pleasing to the eye...either it's liked or not, as it is the artistic expression that captures mood and provocation is what I consider art. Well, that's my long winded convo on that....

i belive that the true meaning of art is to capture a moment in time that has meaning and feeling with emotion .
capturing the mood and visual emotions of a person or the historic place or amimals all manor of art can be anythink you wish it to be , how you percive art and how you show your art is the like and deslike of others who see the finished art to be .
weather it is drawing,painting,sculpting,assembling,photographic or even tattoing and much more it is how and what you are trying to capture at moment in time that makes art.
ART weather it is good or bad ? its still art.

this is my eyes in to art each to there own i say no one is the same (its how you see art that counts)
